Professor of Administrative Law and Public Administration Science. Member of the European Parliament. Former Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Poland (2007-2013).
In 1978 she graduated in Law from the University of Warsaw. In 1985 she obtained a Doctoral Degree in Law and in 1995 became assistant professor at the Department of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw.
From March 1998 to August 2007, for three consecutive terms, she was the Chancellor of Białystok School of Public Administration.
From 2004 to 2007 she was a Member of the European Parliament. She sat on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.
In 2007 she took up the position of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Poland in the government of Donald Tusk. During six years of her ministerial service she implemented a package of reforms aligning Polish research and higher education systems with the European ones.
In 2014 she was elected again as a Member of the European Parliament. She is a vice-chair of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and substitute member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy.
During the current Parliamentary term she is strongly focused on the implementation of Horizon 2020 and preparation of the future 9. Framework Programme as well as diverse aspects of growing innovation gap in Europe.
Professor Barbara Kudrycka is a member of Transparency International Polska and Amnesty International.
Married, with two children.
